Win at Watsonians for P6s

Players; Ewan Morgan, Sean Fisher, Josh Boulton, Matthew Wilson, Rory Fotheringham, James Keenlyside, Finlay Adam, Alan Cousar, Alistair Higgins.

A fantastic team performance from all the boys today resulted in a victory against a very physical and very well drilled Watsonians team. We ended up playing 40 minutes against Watsonians because Gifford and Forresters failed to provide P6 opposition.

In the first period, the boys tackled, passed and ran really well and went in to the break 2 tries to 1 up. The tries were scored by Matthew and Alistair after great teamwork and communication from everyone. The only weakness in this period was our rucking with the opposition getting the upper hand.

The second period saw Watsonians score 3 tries to our 2. Their speed and angles of running broke our defence apart but tries from Matthew and Alan kept us in it. The rucking was much improved in this period and for the rest of the game. The scores were level at this point only because Sean stopped a certain try, covering back with a fantastic run finished with a superb tackle - a move that won him player of the week.

The teams could not be separated after the 3rd period with a bruising 10 minutes ending with 1 try each - Ewan scored the try.

In the final period, the boys really dug deep and managed to find another gear and Watsonians had no answer. Their tackling and rucking was superb - not letting Watsonians out of their own half at all. This pressure resulted in 2 tries from Sean and Alan and the overall win.

The boys all did me proud today against my former club. They did everything we asked of them and came away with a hard fought and well deserved victory against boys who play rugby 4 or 5 times a week. A great platform for us to build on for the coming weeks.
