Three tough matches against Borders opposition

Dunfermline P6's played three tough matches at an excellent Melrose tournament, playing teams from Jedburgh, Peebles and Melrose, all teams that we hadn't played before.
Up first were Jedburgh minis, both teams initially matching one another for scores in a close fought game, Jedburgh eventually securing the win with some strong running down the wing, outpacing the covering defenders.
Peebles were next, and despite a close opening period, Peebles kept their shape better and scored a few late tries past a visibly tiring Dunfermline defence (we'd played 40 minutes non-stop by this time)
An hour's break and a chance to recharge the batteries before we played Melrose made all the difference, and much improved tackling, rucking, and use of space saw us lead this match right up until the final play - Melrose snatching a draw at the end.
A decent result from the final match, and loads of positives to take from this tournament, not least in the way we held our own against some quality opposition for long periods in this tournament. Valuable experience for the team, particularly the recently-joined players for whom this level of competition is something new. The coaches were pleased with the commitment to tackles and rucks, and with the quality of our attacking, particularly in the last game.

Team: Alex, Andrew, Charlie, Connor, Dan, Duncan, Emma, Jamie A, Kian, Liam, Matilda, Matthew

Player of the week: For her continued improvement in contact, and also for her distribution in attack, Emma took home the coveted award for the second time in as many weeks.
