Today's match saw the boys travel to Biggar for their first game in three weeks. The biggar coaches and parents heeped praise on the squad for they way they played their rugby and also their behaviour and discipline both on and off the pitch.

S1 Squad,
Forwards: Lewis Cook, Cal Clarke, Jay Hogg, Kieran Twaddle, Euan Duncan, Jonathan Scott and Jenna Scott.
Backs: Aidan Reddick, Ben Dollery, Euan Colston, Cameron Symes, Sean Clark, Lewis Buchan and Andrew Waterworth.

Due to the bad weather the biggar coaches moved the game to a pitch on the outskirts of Biggar, to be fair it was more like a tattie field than a rugby pitch.

You can picture the scene in your mind, the coaches, 11 boys and Jenna were sat in the changing room, with captain Jonathan Scott having to haul himself out his sick bed to give us 13, stand off Ben Dollery and winger Sean Clark phoned ahead to say they were going to be late. Gary was frantically scribbling in his notepad trying to put some kind of team together. Then he asked that all important question! where are the strips?, everyone looked round at Tom and his silence said it all.

So with the S1 squad with 11 players, Jenna, two plays turning up late and no strips the Biggar boys must have been laughing their heads off.
This left the boys playing in a nice Black, Purple and white hooped number that was obviously borrowed from the U18 Biggar squad.

When the game finally started and with Dunfermline fielding a starting 13 the Biggar boys soon found out that this Dunfermline side can deal with anything put in their way.
The first try was scored by inside centre Euan Colston who finished off a fine move in the 4th minute. The boys were in top gear right from the off with their powerful running, great tackling and rucking and some superb handling skills, it was always going to be a struggle for the hosts.
Sean Clark scored his trade mark try running in under the posts from the half way line. Cal Clarke added number 3 under the posts when he finished off the move of the game when full back for the day (and probably for the rest of the season on this display) Andrew Waterworth linked well with the left wing, then the midfield, then the right wing before Cal finally crossed the line for the score. Ben Dollery added the extra point with the conversion.
Half time: 0 V 10

The second half saw the boys ramp it up and they swarmed the biggar defence, the forwards were simply too strong for the hosts at the set pieces and when Lewis Cook and Jay Hogg linked up ten meters from the Biggar try line Jay powered over for the score in the 24th minute. Jonathan Scott adding the extra point. Lewis Buchan who was having a good game on the wing got in on the act with two try's in the 26th and 30th minute finishing off two fine moves.
The coaches wre looking to take the pressure off their hosts by making a few changes but when they looked to the bench there was Jenna, she replace here brother Jonathan at no.8. The centres Cameron and Euan decided they wanted the game to end with a bang and powered in two try's to seal an impressive win 0 v 26. There was strong perfomances from Aidan Reddick at scrum half who made his fair share of tackles along with the newly formed second row Kieran Twaddle and Euan Duncan. The hosts never got within the Dunfermline 22 but this was more down to the defencive organisation from the boys and their strong tacling and rucking display.

The boys are looking forwards to next weeks match away to Royal High and would like to thank everyone who made the trip today.
They would also like to thank the parents and coaches from Biggar for their encouraging words and for providing the opposition today.

There is far too much talk about good ball and bad ball. In my opinion, good ball is when you have possession and bad ball is when the opposition have it.
