Sunday saw us make the same trip north as last week, this time to Strathmore for a match against a combined Strathmore / Blairgowrie side
First half saw Dunfermline showing the better play in the openeing stages missing three chances to score due to good last man defending before the Strath / Blair side Outside Centre ran the length of the field to score the opening try. Dunfermline responded by upping their game and started to take their opportunities. Couch scored the first taking the ball over from the 5m line after some good phases. Callum finished a move sparked by Danny who combined with Dougie to make ground down the blind side. Adam added a third with a run in from the 22 before Brian ran strongly from half way to add the fourth. Missed tackles in the middle allowed the Strath / Blair 10 to run through and add one more score before half time.
Second half started with a bang with two quick fire tries from Adam then Brian as we ran their kick offs back both time. However our intensity dipped for the next 20 mins allowing Strath / Blair more time on the ball and they replied with two tries through their dangerous runners. Only last ditcvh defending prevented further scores. In the final ten minutes tho after sustaining a long period of pressure, two further tries were scored, first through Jordi running a good angle through the centre and then Brian winning the kick chase after Strath / Blair guddled the ball on halfway.
With Mark having a 100% conversion success rate final score was: 56 v 26
Overall a really enjoyable game played in great conditions. The boys played with more structure at times however it's still a work inprogress at breakdown and defence.
Thanks to everyone who travlled up to support the boys, to Strathmore for their hospitality and to both sides for the game. We look forward to welcoming you down to McKane next year.
Next week, we are on our travels again but this time to local neighbours, Kirkcaldy. Training on Tuesday / Wednesday, c u then
