Dunfermline RFC is pleased to confirm Shaun Hunter as the Colts Head Coach for the 2023/24 season.

Shaun, who originally hails from South Africa, has a wealth of experience as a player and coach.

The flourishing full-back’s playing career began in the 90s and has continued right through to his time here at Dunfermline, playing for both the 2XV and 3XV.

Across the last seven years, the Level 2 qualified coach has honed his coaching skills supporting a number of age-groups including the U14 and U16 boys. Shaun has also played an instrumental part in the coaching set up of the Women’s team as their backs coach for two seasons.

Shaun has most recently been involved as a coach for the Caledonia Player Development Programme facilitated by Scottish Rugby, alongside the union’s regional age-grade programme, the Caledonia U16s.

Upon his appointment, Shaun said: “I am delighted to accept the role of Head Coach to the Colts team. We are stepping up into the National Conference structure which is a very exciting opportunity for the players, and give us a chance to focus on performance rugby, which I think will bring a new level of excitement and fun for everyone.

“Our preseason begins this week, and I’m really looking forward to getting to work with this group of players and our coaching team.”

Dunfermline RFC President, Scott Murphy added: “I’m really pleased that Shaun has accepted the position of Colts Head Coach. Shaun has a lot of experience and skill to bring to this exciting, young team. We’re looking forward to see what he and the team can achieve as we build future players for the club and no doubt beyond.”
