To All the Dunfermline RFC family,

I hope everyone is well and all are doing okay in these strange times.

I wanted to give you an update on what is happening with the club.
We did have our 2020 Whole Club Awards dinner booked for the end of May at Forrester Park but the lockdown put a stop to that. Plans are now in place for a Virtual Awards Ceremony which will take place later this month. Hopefully you will all be able to join us online as we celebrate the club and the achievements of our players, coaches and supporters across all sections of the club. The event is pencilled in for the evening of June 19th but watch out for confirmation of the date and details later this coming week.

The abrupt end to the season has hit us hard financially with loss of home game revenue and cancelled fundraising activities. So on behalf of the committee I would very much like to thank you all for continuing to support the club with your membership subscriptions while we are in this difficult time. We know everyone has different pressures on them and the current crisis is making life hard for some. We really appreciate you continuing to support the club and we fully understand when some can’t.

Normally by now we would be planning the AGM which is historically held in the middle of June. We have had to postpone it under the current circumstances and so it's likely it will be put back until sometime in August. The SRU are putting together guidance on how AGMs can be carried out. When we know more we will put out an announcement.
Speaking of SRU, hopefully you will have seen by now that they have posted their Phase 1 – Return to Play Guidelines. A copy was published on our Facebook page earlier this week. While the guidance doesn’t change our current situation – everything has stopped – it does as least give hope that we are starting to move towards a time when rugby can begin again. Quite when we can get back to playing rugby is not clear but what is clear is that we all have a part to play. Although it may be boring we all must stick to the social distancing rules and public health advice so that we avoid a second wave of the epidemic.

We have not be idle during the lock down. Work has been carried out on the pitches in a programme to improve and repair the surface. The 3rd XV pitch has had levelling work done to improve the surface and our contractor will shockwave, overseed, fertilise and top dress the pitches. Now that we have had some rain the seeding can go ahead and consequently the pitches will be closed off for a time.
If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to get in touch. Look out for notices for our virtual award night and news on Rugby Force Day. I hope everyone has a great, safe, summer.
