Last gasp try for Glenrothes just seals win for opponents.

Ah yes, the Winter Season is most definitely here.
A chilled, muddy morning in Glenrothes hosted a tight few games.

For reasons unknown, a few alterations were made to the usual set up we would experience, a wider pitch was set up for games and 5min halves were played opposed to 10mins each way.

First up was the Glenrothes P4/P5 team up against Dunfermline P4’s.
Secondly, Glenrothes P4/P5 took on the Dunfermline P5’s.
Finally, a Dunfermline v Dunfermline game was played seeing both teams competing with a P4/P5 mix split evenly.

Glenrothes 6-5 Dunfermline

The game got off to a kicking start for Dunfermline with Reuben MacLeod bounding his way over the line within the first minute of the game.

Glenrothes 0-1 Dunfermline

Glenrothes fired back almost immediately, just a minute later Dunfermline were caught out wide and some smart vision from the opponents seen them score out wide.

Glenrothes 1-1 Dunfermline

Dunfermline as reliant as ever bounced back in a similar fashion. Through a phase or two ending up in Matthew Gracie crossing over to put Dunfermline in the lead with a try out wide.

Glenrothes 1-2 Dunfermline

Once again, it was tic-for-tac! Glenrothes come back and score within the same minute through their initial try scorer who proved to be a formidable ball carrier. Score was all even once again.

Glenrothes 2-2 Dunfermline

Glenrothes were able to take the lead for the first time in the match with a score in the third minute. More tries than minutes played, an exciting game so far.

Glenrothes 3-2 Dunfermline

Showing some solid defence, our first minute of the game passed without a single try for either team.
Approaching the halfway mark, Glenrothes were able to extend their lead through another solid run.

Glenrothes 4-2 Dunfermline

Right at the end of the first half, Dunfermline got the final input.
Hands through the restart to Matthew Gracie seen him fly through the opponents defence and bring Dunfermline back in the game with just a lone try being the difference.

Glenrothes 4-3 Dunfermline

The second half started off with another strong display of defence from both teams, neither conceding a try in the opening minute.

Glenrothes strike first however, another try for them has taken the lead to a 2 point margin.

Glenrothes 5-3 Dunfermline

Here is where the game got even more exciting.
Dunfermline’s defence was holding firm. Glenrothes were unable to find a gap to exploit, tackles were being made effectively. More noticeably from Corey Zaczek and William Moran who were targeting nothing but legs.
Make no mistake all players were putting in a solid effort.

At last, a try for Dunfermline came from the fancy footwork and sublime stepping of Callum Ferguson who danced his way through to score and restore some confidence after some terrific defending.

Glenrothes 5-4 Dunfermline

8th minute, Dunfermline kept cool and brought the game back to an even platform.
Conall Burns scored a deserving try for his efforts in both attack and defence so far.
Hard running from Conall seen him skewer through the opposition and score the 5th try for Dunfermline.

Glenrothes 5-5 Dunfermline

All was even until the last play of the game.
Glenrothes found themselves with the ball. A strong tackle seen Glenrothes heading towards the touch line until the cavalry arrived, Dunfermline matched them and suddenly all players from both sides were involved in a full team maul.
After scaling up, down and across the pitch the maul broke open and a single Glenrothes player seen a clean run to the try line.

Last minute try snatched the opponents a win.

Glenrothes 6-5 Dunfermline

Truly devastating end to such a high quality performance from our P4 squad.

Nothing to take from Glenrothes, the game was as tight as you could ask for.

Extremely proud of the players involved for their commitment and guts shown throughout the performance.

Player of the Day:
Once again, the decision has not been an easy one to make.
Strong performances all around from every player.
So much so, that to detail each player’s performance would probably see me run out of available characters to include in this report!

However, after showing great character and tremendous defence, Dunfermline’s Player of the Day goes to Matthew Gracie!
