On 20 March the P6 Team travelled in Spring weather to Haddington, where the daffodils were in full bloom, unlike Dunfermline which still seemed to be enjoying the last blast of winter. Whilst the boys were put through a warm up/training session, the parents enjoyed the host’s hospitality in the clubhouse – were they the best bacon rolls of the season so far?
The boys were up against Haddington A and B Teams and Murrayfield Wanderers. P6/7
The first game against Haddington A saw a great team effort with an almost impenetrable defence and a free flowing passing game moving forward. 6 Tries were run in by Matthew (2), Josh (3) and Alistair to Haddingtons 1.
Next were Haddington B, who were perhaps misnamed as they put up a spirited fight. Dunfermline were into their stride and playing some elegant rugby, passing well and running onto the ball at speed. At the final whistle the score stood at 5 – 2 to Dunfermline with try scorers Josh (2), Sean (2) and Alistair.
The third game was against a sizeable Murrayfield Wanderers P6/7 team – undaunted, the boys got stuck in and were tackling well. The first half was pretty tight with the teams trading tries and Dunfermline going into the break with a slender lead. In the second half the defence was immense against a well drilled opposition and the support play was excellent with Dunfemline ending up as worthy winners 6 -4. Try Scorers – Sean (2), Matthew (2), Alistair (2).
Overall a great day for the whole team who deserve credit for their teamwork, support play and communication.
