Dunfermline S1 squad got off to a flyer with a nine try win over Perthshire.
Forwards: Lewis Cook, Cal Clarke, Jay Hogg, Thomas Pooley, Sean Ramsey, Jonathan Scott (Capt), Kieran Twaddle, Kieran Wilson, Mark McAdam, Euan Duncan and Cameron Shaw.
Backs: Aidan Reddick, Ben Dollery, Cameron Symes, Euan Colston, Andrew Waterworth, Jackson Moyles, Sean Clark, Lewis Buchan, Harvey Watson.
Dunfermline S1 stepped up to the 13 aside format and looked as if they had played it for years. The standard of rugby on display from the boys was very high and the fitness levels were also evident for all to see.
The game started at a fast pace with Dunfermline taking the game to the Perth side, for the first 10 minutes it seemed that the boys had forgotten to score. Once they got the first try in the 10th minute with Cal Clarke breaking through the Perth defence it didn't take long before the rest were getting in on the act. Further try's were added by,
Euan Colston (12), Cameron Symes (14), Thomas Pooley (15) and Jonathan Scott(20)
This year sees the introduction of conversions to the game and Ben Dollery done really well to slot 3 kicks through the posts to add the extra points.
The boys went into the break 18-0.
The second half was much the same from the Dunfermline squad, By this time the boys were in full flow and the Perth side were struggling to keep up with the high tempo that was being set. Further try's were added through Cameron Symes (26 & 29), Cal Clarke (32 & 40) with Jonathan Scott converting the kick in the 29th minute. The defencive skills from the boys was very impressive with the Perth side struggling to make any inroads into the Dunfermline half. There are some areas that need working on for example the lineout and scrum, but at the end of the day the coaches were pleased with the effort from the boys.
A big thanks to the Perth side for providing the opposition today and now we all look forward to a tough away trip to Currie.
