Todays game was always going to be a tough test of character for the boys and with a strong wind blowing across the park good handling was always going to be a top priority.
The game started badly for Dunfermline with Currie scoring straight from the kick off through their biggest player who was twice the size of half the Dunfermline side, However the boys regrouped and took the game to the big Currie side who were now being dragged about the park by the expansive style of rugby the Dunfermline boys are rapidly becoming known for. In the 12th minute the boys were on level terms with Lewis Cook driving over the line to score with Ben Dollery adding the extra point with the conversion.
By this time the forwards were winning every tackle and ruck which saw the ball repeatedly popping back out on the Dunfermline side, a really strong performance from the forwards today which provided good ball for the backs.
Two minutes later and Cal Clarke put Dunfermline in front with a great support run down the left to finish just wide of the posts.
The half time score was Currie 3 v 7 Dunfermline.
The second half was like deja vue with Currie scoring an identical try through their big runner to take the score to 7-7.
In the 25th minute Thomas Pooley picked the ball up deep in the Currie half and drove at their winger, the ball broke loose and gave Lewis Buchan a chance to show his footballing skills to kick the ball forwards and pick the ball up off his boot laces to score.
Currie hit back with a well worked try with 10 minutes to go and make the game level at 10 - 10.
Dunfermline always looked good for the win and had two opportunities spurned with the ball being held up in the dead ball area.
With 5 minutes remaining Dunfermline finally turned their pressure into a try with the boys going through the phases to keep the ball and presenting the chance for Lewis Cook to drive over the line to give the S1 Squad a 13 - 10 win.
The boys really showed some great spirt and discipline today along with their undoubted skills which are developing as the team grows, it is important to point out that every player played to the maximum ability which led to such a strong performance from the team. Well done!
The boys would like to thank Currie for their hospitality today and the support they received from the vocal but well behaved touchline. They are looking forwards to the Heriots match next week and would like to see you all there.
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.
