Dunfermline S2s played their final conference fixture away to Allan Glens, a team we haven't played before. A quick look at their conference results showed that they have been improving throughout the season, so we expected a tough encounter.
From the start, we played our wide game, but a well organised defence stopped our first few attacks. Eventually we scored down the left flank through Gregor, with Andrew converting. However, Allan Glens gathered the ball following the restart, and their centre made a lovely arcing run through our central defence and ran in for the score.
Dunfermline then settled into the game well; some very decent rucking, giving Kailo a good platform for him to control the game at scrum half, gave us the space to and time to play the way that we wanted to. This led to us scoring some well worked tries, Kian scoring the best of these with a right to left passing move.
In to the second half, we made a lot of substitutions and rotated players around to ensure everyone got plenty of game time, so our flow was broken a little. However, we still managed to play some excellent rugby, Logan K scoring down the left in the best of the second half scores. Allan Glens continued to cause us problems and scored a couple more tries (one of them very well worked with a passing move), but Dunfermline maintained their advantage and finished in front.
Full time: Dunfermline 30 -10 Allan Glens
An excellent end to the conference season, and to give further meaning to this win, the S2's collected the points which confirmed the club as overall winners of the Galant Conference, a fantastic achievement for all involved over all ages, from S1 to Colts.
