Read the latest news from the Sports Hub McKane on Infrastructure Development and Redevelopment

The McKane Park Community Sports Hub is an organisation that has the strategic aim of becoming more inclusive and better connected with the local community and non-sporting partners and in doing so increase the wider health, wellbeing and physical activity levels of people across Dunfermline.

What will assist us in achieving this aim is the development of a wider range of sports available at McKane Park through the provision of appropriate facility infrastructure, coaching and wellbeing, with the assistance, financially or otherwise of sports governing bodies, Fife Council, sponsors and any other appropriate bodies or stakeholders.

Currently the Hub is assessing the feasibility and potential for the development of all indoor and outdoor facilities on the McKane Park campus and is looking at potential opportunities to redevelop the facilities to enhance all current sports (i.e. cricket, rugby and squash) by providing one sustainable facility on the McKane Park site.

It is also the intention to explore the possibility of expanding the range of available sports by adding new sporting clubs and associated facilities in any future developments at McKane Park.

Initial considerations involve planning for a sustainable 2-storey multi-use building with facilities including:

Ten changing rooms; two squash courts; a gym, suitable storage; function suite,
and external facilities including: a 4G multi-use pitch; a new stand; a beer garden/outdoor seating area.

In addition, a separate redevelopment opportunity will be investigated which will hopefully involve the upgrading of the current sports lounge as a separate licensed facility on the campus.

Consequently, the Hub are looking for any volunteers, from within club memberships, or their families and friends, with knowledge/experience in the areas listed below who would be prepared to help and advise the Committee on feasibility, opportunities and essential information that will allow the Hub Committee to turn their big vision into a practical proposition.

• Fundraising
• Planning requirements
• Project management
• Construction expertise
• Architectural services
• Legal and compliance

If you, or others connected to you, would like to get involved with this new and exciting project, please get in contact with the Hub via email - hubteam@mckanepark.community

The Sports Hub Committee meets regularly and at its next meeting on 9 May will consider the next steps in this exciting project.

Thank you in anticipation,

McKane Park Community Sports Hub
